The pursuit of excellence led award winning design firm, Populous to specify Ever Art Wood® for the exterior and interior of NSW Rugby League Centre of Excellence in Olympic Park, Sydney. With careful selection of materials aiming to achieve a four star green star equivalency rating, the advantages of aluminium timber look Ever Art Wood® cladding were clear.

The multi-million dollar state of the art facility was opened in February 2019, in time for the State of Origin 2019. With world class facilities, the centre embodies the NSWRL culture of best practice.

“This new Centre of Excellence is an absolute game-changer for NSWRL,” NSWRL Chief Executive David Trodden said. “It’s not a stretch to say this is the best high-performance facility in the Rugby League world.”

Used across both the facade and interior of the building, Ever Art Wood® panels and battens were utilised in various profiles and colours.

Fire rated 2mm Mokuzai panels in Riigaru Oku feature on the facade, the timber look softening the hard angles of the structure. Framing windows, soffits and ceilings of exterior spaces, the ability to withstand exposure to the elements was an important consideration. Ever Art Wood’s superior performance when subject to environmental factors such as exposure to UV, humidity and rain lead to it’s utilisation over real timber, minimising ongoing maintenance requirements.

Kabebari battens of various profiles were used throughout interior spaces for decorative ceiling and wall features. The two part battens conceal fixings for a seamless look, all screws hidden inside the profile.

Feature ceilings with inset lighting were created in meeting rooms, using a combination of 100x50, 30x85 and 30x50 Kabebari profiles in Biera Oku. A striking 60 person lecture theatre space extends the use of battens further, with a magnificently detailed batten wrapped floor to ceiling wall.

Ever Art Wood® combines the realistic appearance of timber with the durability of aluminium, and is an exceptional choice for both exterior and interior decorative cladding.
